Jason Hackenwerth’s paintings wrestle the complexities of the human condition. His bold and uncompromising mark-making, text rich surfaces, and deep, vibrant color
combinations, plunge the unconscious. His upcoming show WE ANIMAL opens May 12th, at in his own studio gallery at The Factory Saint Petersburg. 2526 Terminal Drive South and will be up through June 10th .

This show of recent works marries traditionally held animalistic traits to our own best and worst  tendencies, threading implicit narratives ofnarcissistic excess, mass delusion, and personal transformation.

In addition to more than a dozen new works on canvas, Hackenwerth gives viewers a
powerful example of his origins as a sculptor with a large-scale sculpture that sets the tone for the entire show. “Gallery goers will enter through the massive work to be birthed into the exhibition.” as the artist describes it. This show is a must see for anyone in the South Florida region.
